To preserve and promote cultural heritage, humanistic and spiritual values.ORIGIN:The Planning Commission, Delhi and University Grants Commission, Delhi have initiated the concept of establishing University Employment Information and Guidance Bureau in the early sixties. The Government of Andhra Pradesh and Osmania University initiated to adopt this concept, thus established Osmnaia University Employment Bureau in 1962.LOCATION:The Bureau is located in the Osmania University Campus with a separate spacious building with two big halls, one for Registration and the other for a Library, a Computer room and separate rooms for Chief, Deputy Chief and supporting staff with adequate furniture. The University Campus can be reached by means of Local Trains, number of City Transport Buses and Autos from all corners of the Twin Cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.The University Employment Information and Guidance Bureau, Osmania University, Hyderabad is headed by a Chief who is drawn from the academic faculty of the University and a Deputy Chief who is an Assistant Director /Regional Employment Officer of the Department of Employment and Training, Government of Andhra Pradesh assists him. The Bureau has the following staff patternBureau has been giving the best of its services to the students and alumni for more than four decades. The students who approach this Bureau are given Registration Guidance talk on how to fill-up the forms. A Video Cassette is displayed on the Television showing in detail on how to fill-up each column before submitting the form for registration. After the registration, students can approach the Deputy Chief and other staff of the Bureau for individual guidance regarding the career they are about to get into in the near future. Group Discussion sessions are also held to enlighten the candidates regarding Career Planning. Career Talks are delivered at the Bureau and Osmania University Campus constituent and affiliated Colleges regularly to enlighten post and professional graduates about Career Planning.The students who register in this Bureau have to renew their employment registration once in three years. Some of the candidates who come to the Bureau for renewals, updating qualification etc., are selected at random for Case Studies and Review of Old Cases. They are briefed on how to plan their Career systematically according to their qualifications, aptitude and interests. Such Old Cases who have not been able to get into a job are reviewed and the reports are submitted to the Directorate every month.LIBRARY:The Bureau has a well-equipped Library, which has many updated books on Admissions, Scholarships, Fellowships, Employment opportunities etc., in India and abroad. Several daily News Papers are subscribed along with the Employment News for the benefit of the students. The Professional Assistant provides individual informationTALENT BANK:This Bureau collects and disseminates information on various sources like information data base agencies, newspapers, employment news etc., to the candidates visiting this Bureau. A data bank consisting of “Occupation Information” is updated every month for the benefit of the students.This Bureau has the unique facility of administering the aptitude test, Model Tests and other psychological tests to the students on request at a nominal payment. This programme has been much in demand in recent years. Group testing has been a regular factor at the Bureau and affiliated Colleges; Individual Career Counseling is done based on the results.Annual Reports and Prospectus are acquired and made available to the students on request. Eminent Speakers from Business Industrial Organizations, Management Specialties and Personal Recruitment Department are invited to deliver a lecture on Careers that the students could be placed according to their qualifications. The final year students are also taken to the Industries and National Institutions for a day’s visit to enlighten them about the world of employmentThis Bureau co-ordinate with the Entrepreneur Development Cell to train students in starting an industry on their own. They are not only trained, but motivated to achieve excellence the Bureau maintains a list of resource personnel who are experts in their field and these who have achieved success in achieving excellent results in establishment their own industry. The Bureau also co-ordinates with Director, Coaching Centre at the College of Arts, Osmania University to provide coaching to the students approaching for Civil Services, Bank Probationary Officers etc., through out the year. The results of these candidates are very much encouraging. Many IAS/IPS Officers have been selected after they have undergone training at our CentreJOB ORIENTATION:Occupational and training information in various fields are collected and disseminated to the candidates on request. Career Conferences are organized regularly for the benefit of students. Seminars and Career Talks are organized during every academic year. Training programmes and workshops are conducted for the unemployed and for those who want to start their own industry. The students are motivated to strive to achieve greater success through self-employment and through training them up in personality development skills. They are also taught to develop their personality skills to become a grand success as and entrepreneur confidence building programmes are organized every yearCAREER ADVISORY UNITS AND LIAISON OFFICERS:The Bureau provides information and also guidance to set up ‘Career Guidance Cells’ in the various Colleges coming under Osmania University jurisdiction. The pattern provided is based on the infrastructure of this Bureau. The Chief, Deputy Chief and the Technical Assistant have successfully guided many affiliated Colleges to establish ‘Career Guidance Units’ in their Colleges
